A stretch ceiling is a fabric tensioned into profiles at the ceiling edge. What happens above the fabric decides the result — and that is what we show here, step by step, from a living room and kitchen where the old ceiling was clad in boards.
The boards came down and rockwool went in between the joists for sound damping. Then timber framing was built for the lighting — mounts for built-in and hanging lights and tracks for adjustable spotlights — and the whole ceiling covered with a black backing. The black layer matters: it makes the background uniform so nothing shows through the white fabric, neither joists nor services.
Then the Clipso fabric is heated, tensioned into the profiles and the edge tucked in with a spatula. The result is one flat, seamless ceiling with acoustics that damp echo, with the lights passing through. We install the ceilings ourselves and buy the material from the Clipso dealer in Iceland.
